Our Values

Highland Baptist Church exists to lead people to:

Connect with Jesus and with others, Grow in Jesus, and Live out our faith in Jesus.

Connect with Jesus

Through worship: corporate worship every weekend, personal worship through Life Groups and prayer, and lifestyle worship. We also connect with each other through fellowship.

Grow in Jesus

Through Groups: this is the primary way we make disciples through teaching, praying, and caring for each other in the group.

Live out our faith in Jesus

By sharing our faith with our community, showing our faith through acts of caring, giving to support the mission of hbc, and by serving the church body in the way weā€™re each uniquely designed to do.

Our Beliefs

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of connecting, growing, and living out our faith.

  • The Bible

The Bible was written by men and divinely inspired by the Holy Spirt and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture are totally true and trustworthy.

    2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 199; 105, 160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

  • God

Is creator and ruler of the universe. There is one and only one living and true God. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Genesis 1:1; 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

  • Mankind

Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

    Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2

  • Salvation

Salvation is a gift given to man by God. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good deeds. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ by faith.

    Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

  • Grace

It is the glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. Grace is unmerited favor and love that God extends to humanity.

    Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Romans 3:24; Titus 2:11; John 1:16; Hebrews 4:16; 1 Peter 5:10

  • Baptism

We believe that baptism by immersion is a church ordinance that represents a personā€™s first public act of confession, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

    Matthew 3:6, Matthew 13ā€“17; Acts 2:38-41, Acts 22:16; Romans 6:4ā€“11; 1 Peter 3:21

  • Eternal Security

Because eternal life is based on the gift of God to sinful persons through grace, the believer in Christ is secure in that salvation for all eternity. His salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. The Christianā€™s life of righteousness is motivated by Godā€™s grace, not by fear of losing salvation.

    John 10:28-29; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 2 Timothy 1:2
